Vision and Philosophy

Why Nature Matters?
Our planet sustains us in every way imaginable. We depend on nature, and our connection to the all the life it supports and cares for.

Appreciating the world around us is more important now than ever, for the good of our planet, and for all of us. Time spent in nature has been proven to be good for our health, both physically and mentally, and also to make us better learners and happier people!

Nature Matters offers experiences where the public can have meaningful interactions with animals, the outdoors and sustainable agriculture through after-school programs, tours, classes and live animal programs both at the farm and in the community.

These programs bring together a wide range of natural history themes and topics which tie-in to curriculum encompassing the life sciences, animal behavior, biology, zoology, ecology and botany as well as environmental science, agriculture. Our programs also involve history, as natural and human history are deeply linked.

Programs involve in-depth and age appropriate discussion, while also allowing time and space for exploration, encouraging inquiry and dialogue. Experiences are physical, and engage the senses of touch, sight, smell and sound. Hands-on activities are always incorporated!
